John impessed me with his deep sense of patriotism, and a model patriot. He now has joined the eternal Regiment of those who took the oath, served our country and honorably passed from this life of service into the eternal presence of Almighty God. His testimony is remembered as one of genuine passion and perseverance. I had the pleasure of meeting John at an American Legion conference in Indianapolis. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. All my best, Rick Baum, Dist. 5 Committeeman, Colorado American Legion Riders.

RIP John. You touched many with your passion and your artwork. You always had a kind word and ALWAYS asked me about that “boy of mine”. There are many more of us that will continue to carry the torch for the USS Indianapolis CA-35 story. Your work was not in vain.

This wonderful man did a great service to the brave fighting men of the USS Indianapolis. I recently found out he was the one I met in person, and I personally own the art that is on the cover of his book “Touched by so Many”. It is an honor to have met you sir.

John was a great man whom I met while working security for the State of Indiana, I told him that I’m a Marine and we had some good conversations about our time in the service. He had a huge heart and always made me smile. He had the most beautiful artwork in the city and I always smile when I see his art at the VA hospital. Even though he was old enough to me my grandfather I always saw him as an older brother from a different time. I was at marsh downtown with my dad last week and I thought of John. RIP! Love you and miss you man!
